Happy New year to all of our followers and friends! Over the Christmas break we heard the brilliant news that planning permission has been granted for the project so we’ve got cracking. What a brilliant day we’ve had! Today we planted over 300 Rosa Rugosa along the boundary of the site in variously snow, rain and sunshine and it really feels like things are starting to move. After the heavy rain we were concerned that the site was just a bog as the surface water seemed to be pooling and not draining away, so Sam dug down to discover that the ground is relatively dry under the surface and there is a nice deep, fertile layer of top soil. This is excellent news and we just can’t wait to get started. We will be needing lots of willing volunteers in the next month so please get in touch if you’d like to help. Best wishes for 2018 from the Higher Ground team 🙂
